Youth Theatre Ireland & Dublin Fringe Festival Mentorship & Creative Assistant Programme 2022

25 May 2022

Youth Theatre Ireland and Dublin Fringe Festival are delighted to partner together to bring a wonderful mentorship and creative assistant opportunity to young people interested in design and technical areas of theatre this summer!

About the Career Development Workshops
In late July, Youth Theatre Ireland will run 3 career development workshops based around sound, set, and lighting design, for young people, aged 18 plus, who are curious, committed, and eager to learn about these areas of theatre. These workshops are open to everyone, including Youth Theatre Ireland members and affiliated organisations. You do not need to have had previous technical experience in these areas to participate, but a basic understanding of these design areas would be ideal. Youth Theatre Ireland will also cover any transport or associated costs for Youth Theatre Ireland members who require assistance to attend.

About the Dublin Fringe Festival Creative Assistants
After the workshops in July, there will be a further opportunity with Dublin Fringe Festival for female identifying BIPOC to be considered for paid Creative Assistant positions on the production Hive City Legacy by acclaimed Australian artists Hot Brown Honey. They are looking for a Lighting and Set Design Assistant and Sound Design Assistant. This is a wonderful opportunity for early career artists to gain more experience in their areas of interest, and to be mentored by professionals in the industry.

The ideal Lighting and Set Design Assistant would be able to multi-task, relatively technical minded, and able to handle small makes/props. The ideal Sound Design Assistant would have basic sound engineering skills (e.g. someone who makes beats or is versed in some beats production), song writing skills, and have some dance and composition skills.

The Creative Assistant positions are fixed term five week contracts with flexible part-time hours in consultation with the designer and producer across the rehearsal period. The fee will be €2200. You must be Dublin based/able to provide your own accommodation in Dublin for the duration of the production.
