OPEN CALL FOR PERFORMERS FOR A NEW SHOW BY HOT BROWN HONEY

28 March 2022

Hot Brown Honey & Dublin Fringe Festival are thrilled to present Hive City Legacy: Dublin Chapter  this September and we want the most exciting new performers in the city to join us!

We are launching an open call to audition to join the cast of Hive City Legacy. You’ll work with Hot Brown Honey and a crew of Irish/ Ireland-based performers to create an amazing show together at Dublin Fringe Festival this September.

ACTIVATE : POLLINATE : LIBERATE
Hive City Legacy is locked, loaded and ready to strike back! It’s time to get in formation and bring together a league of extraordinary crew of femme Black artists and artists of Colour. Armed with a fresh coat of stories to sweep the stage, we are calling on the boundary breakers, the shape shifters and the movement makers to Seize The Mic. In partnership with Dublin Fringe Festival, International Creators Lisa Fa’alafi and Busty Beatz (Hot Brown Honey) are gathering a mobilised troop of WOC to build a new creative alliance set to explode the stage with the unseen, the unheard and the erased. In the tradition of decolonising one stage at a time, let’s start the legacy to shift the paradigm in Ireland.

DO I NEED ANY PARTICULAR SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE TO TAKE PART?
First up, have fun with this! While we make serious work, we also make satirical work, so give us your best, your most silly, your most slick. We hope to laugh together a lot.

You will need to be an Irish or Ireland-based female identifying BIPOC, interested in interrogating a conversation around gender, race and identity, decolonisation, body image and ready to deconstruct, redefine, reimage and make fun of the personal, political and social structures around us.

You will need to be interested in working as a performer in an ensemble, making work with artists from other disciplines, want to collaborate and try new artforms and take direction from the Honey Creators. (Singers get ready to dance, dancers get ready to speak, music makers get ready to do it all). Examples of genres - cabaret, dance, theatre, spoken word (writing and performing), music (composition, performing, beatboxing), circus, sideshow.

If you are already a multidisciplinary artist, then this is probably perfect for you! No previous professional experience is required. No matter where you are in your career, if have an urge to perform, connect and experiment then we want to hear from you.
