Dead In Here

A group of friends are desperate to escape the city for a weekend. Millie has an idea. Her family has a big house down the country. It’s been theirs for about 400 years. Just don’t ask how they got it.

Brian wants to drink. Millie wants to relax. Georgia just doesn’t want any fights. So they drink. They relax. They try not to fight. 

But then Millie’s ex arrives at the door. And soon after that, they run out of drink. The trip begins to fall apart as old tensions resurface, and just when it looks like they’ve hit rock bottom, a voice calls out from below. 

Dead In Here is a new play inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio’s ‘The Decameron’. It seeks to explore how it feels to be a young person right now: hyper-aware of the problems and powerless to effect any solutions. With its raw aesthetic, this play presents a striking vision for what is possible when theatre is stripped back to its purest elements. 

This is a play about love and death that interrogates our collective desire to escape reality.
