Independent producing powerhouse and Fringe hero Lara Hickey is offering a Producing 101 masterclass. This masterclass is perfect for early career producers and those interested in learning more about the business of producing shows and developing audiences. Lara is well versed in the “do’s and don’ts” of creating new work, making power moves and effective planning. Lara will share invaluable tips on building your professional network, how to create an undeniable funding application and the intricacies of planning a tour! 

Lara Hickey is an award-winning Irish film and theatre producer with 12 years' experience in project development for stage and screen. She is Co-Director of Copper Alley Productions and Producer with THISISPOPBABY, Anabasis Films and is a founder and course co-director of X-POLLINATOR with Katie Holly, a professional development initiative for female creative talent, funded by the BAI, Screen Ireland, Screen Skills Ireland and Creative Europe. Her film & television credits in development, production and production accounts include Element Pictures, BBC, RTÉ, Vico Films, Zodiak Media, Hail Mary Pictures, EON and NBC Universal. Most recently Lara produced the IFTA nominated short film BAINNE directed by Jack Reynor and starring Will Poulter (WINNER Best First Short) in association with Sky Arts and Screen Ireland, multi award-winning CYNTHIA, directed by Jack Hickey and starring Clare Dunne and Moe Dunford (WINNER: Tiernan McBride Award Best Short Drama), which both premiered at the 31st Galway Film Fleadh and have gone on to screen at international festivals in Europe, the UK and the United States. And ALGORITHM which won the Bingham Ray New Talent Award for Director Edwina Casey.  

Her background is in theatre and arts, including as Associate Producer at the Abbey Theatre; Ireland’s National Theatre where she produced an award winning programme of new Irish writing, classical work from the Irish canon and hugely successful international co-productions and tours. As an independent producer and programmer in theatre, music and the arts Lara worked with leading Irish performance collectives THISISPOPBABY, Rough Magic, THEATREclub, Talking Shop Ensemble & Shaun Dunne, The Corn Exchange, Pan Pan, Project Arts Centre and award-winning Irish music & arts festival Body & Soul Festival. Lara is a member of the Board of Directors of Dublin Fringe Festival and The Corn Exchange. Lara holds a First Class Honours MA in Creative Production & Screen Finance from the National Film School, IADT, a degree in Political Science from Trinity College Dublin and is a graduate of the Rough Magic SEEDS Producer’s Programme.
