FRINGE LAB: Experimental Forms Workshop with Nathan Ellis
Are you a contemporary theatre maker looking to invigorate your practice? Do you have an idea bursting out that you’re looking to shape? If so - this workshop is for you!
Date: Friday 24th October
Number: For 14 people
Time: 10am – 5pm, with lunch provided by Dublin Fringe
Where: FRINGE LAB, Dublin Fringe Festival HQ, Sycamore Street
Experimental Forms is a hands-on workshop for theatre and multidisciplinary practitioners. This workshop looks at how award-winning company SUBJECT OBJECT and Nathan Ellis makes work by identifying how they give ideas shape. Nathan Ellis toured his hit show work.txt (a play without actors) to Dublin as part of the Festival in 2023 where it won an award for technical innovation and wowed Irish audiences and artists alike.
The workshop will cover:
- Different ways of understanding form in theatre
- How form can help you think about making new work of any kind – traditional or not!
- Putting the theory into practice by applying those ideas to projects and ideas you're currently working on.
You'll need to bring a pen and paper and a nascent idea – a hunch about what you might work on next.
Please note, this workshop is for artists who have an experimental multidisciplinary and/or theatre practice with at least one production staged in Ireland or abroad.
There are 14 places on the workshop. Places will be offered on a first come, first served basis to all eligible artists. All FRINGE LAB workshops are free to attend and Dublin Fringe Festival offices are accessed by stairs.
