Applications open: MAKE 2020

20 November 2020

The 12th MAKE residency will run from11-15 January 2021. Like many things this year, MAKE will be different. Since the much loved group residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre is impossible due to ongoing public health restrictions, this edition of MAKE will be reconfigured to provide valuable time and focus for performance makers, wherever they are. International mentors will be on hand with support, provocation and guidance via digital channels. The programme will offer a one week artist fee, peer support and mentorship to develop theatre and performance projects, working individually or in collaboration with other artists. Groups of up to three artists are welcome to apply. The programme will be configured in response to the participating artists’ needs to support them to work safely at home or, where necessary and possible, in a local studio in line with public health guidelines at the time.

Eligibility
MAKE takes the form of an annual residential laboratory where ideas for new performance work are developed with the mentorship of renowned theatre artists and for some, in collaboration with other participants. MAKE puts emphasis on the generation of new performance work outside of the traditional writer-led model. It is open to artists exploring a variety of dramaturgical models in their work including devised work, documentary theatre work, text-driven work using found or fragmentary texts, music theatre, new writing experimenting with form, digital and interactive presentation formats.
