A Wee Boost: Listen to a new podcast from Dublin Fringe Festival and Project Arts Centre

27 February 2023

A new podcast from Dublin Fringe Festival & Project Arts Centre, designed to energise creative minds. We ask some of the artists and thinkers we look to for inspiration to share what’s getting them out of bed in the morning. Part recommendation list, part pep-talk, and essential listening whenever you are in need of a wee boost.

A Wee Boost features contributions from ground-breaking Irish and international performance makers, produced by Esther O’Moore Donoghue. Contributors include Stacey Gregg, Fake Friends, Pea Dinneen, Adèle Anderson, Dead Centre, Pedro Sepulveda, Jetse Batalaan, Dan Colley, Xnthony, Lucy McCormick, Bourgeois and Maurice, Mele Brooms and many more.

A Wee Boost: shots of inspiration from artists you need to know - 5 Irish artists are on the hunt for a wee boost… who will they meet?  Listen in on conversations between an Irish and an international artist about what is working for them and what they are drawing inspiration from right now.

Postcards to the Edge: You will also hear an audio postcard from an international artist or Irish artist making waves abroad. They answer the following questions and send us a picture from where they are.

And our favourite sequin-clad alien siblings, Bourgeois & Maurice, provide a theme tune guaranteed to raise your dopamine levels.

Episode 1: Performer, singer and writer Pea Dineen and legendary performer Adèle Anderson, member of the cabaret group Fascinating Aïda. This week’s Postcards to the Edge is sent in from theatre-maker and director Claire O’Reilly who is working in Mainz, Germany.

In this episode, we have the pleasure of eavesdropping on a chat between theatre maker Pea Dineen and Adèle Anderson, the Olivier Award-nominated singer and actress, best known as one third of Fascinating Aïda. During their conversation, they talked about Patti LuPone, Stephen Sondheim and how they both approach creating work.

We also have a contribution from director Claire O’Reilly who sent us an aural snapshot from Mainz just outside Frankfurt in Germany. She was working there on the play A Family Business by Chris Thorpe and gave us a flavour of what was going on around here, her work day and things that were giving her a lift.

We hope you enjoy!
