No Obligation
A contract is read aloud. Two performers must fulfil their obligations.
This live artwork by Rachel Enright Murphy blends legal language with intimate action, testing the boundaries of performance, consent and obligation. Developed with an intimacy coordinator and a creative-legal consultant, the piece uses a series of intimate performance exercises where improvised movement becomes a legal or ethical requirement.
Legal loopholes, standardisation and semantic argument become prompts for an uncanny, tender and visually striking performance.
Developed & supported by the Temple Bar Gallery + Studios Recent Graduate Residency Award, Pan Pan International Mentorship Programme & The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
