Itch

Christopher McAuley
A figure stands shrouded in a sheer gray fabric, partially obscuring their body and face, against a dark background.

Christopher has an itch, an itch that just won’t go away… but through trapeze, confession, self-deprecating humour, vulnerability, and a conversation with dad, he’s gonna expose all the ways he’s tried.
Have you ever tried to change your voice to fit in? Have you ever tried a fad cure? Have you ever felt like a monster? Have you ever tried to eat a sausage roll without getting pastry all over you? Well, imagine that sausage roll monster is Christopher. Over the 50 minutes of Itch, he will lose approximately 11 grams of dried skin. That’s the kind of monster he is.

Itch is an unpicking of what makes us, us. What makes him, him. Through Christopher’s lifelong experience with chronic eczema, and growing up queer in the post-conflict streets of Belfast, Itch takes the audience on an emotional adventure towards radical self acceptance. Expect full-frontal silliness, sadness, and a deeper love for flakey pastry.
