Composed at the height of the Vietnam War, Benjamin Britten’s opera is as pertinent now as then. Is pacifism an act of cowardice or a desire to escape from the spiral of war to achieve lasting peace? To what extent do we determine our own future? Should past events inform the decisions we make? Winner of Best Production at Dublin Fringe Festival 2015, Opera Collective Ireland (formerly IYO) showcase some of Ireland’s best young singers in a daring staging of this gripping psychodrama. An opera for the times we live in.
