Some big news about Town Choir…

21 August 2017

Town Choir 2017 from Theatre Replacement on Vimeo.

Picture this: a large choir in the middle of Stephen's Green Shopping Centre on a bustling Saturday or Sunday. They're singing text that is appearing on screens in front of them - but they have no idea what's coming next. A little further away (and out of sight) two writers type out their thoughts, which are then sung by the choir. The writers type whatever they like: how they're feeling; what they're seeing - observations of the world around them.

This is Town Choir.

The show comes to Dublin Fringe Festival from Canada as Vancouver's Theatre Replacement joins forces with Dublin-based vocal ensemble Tonnta and children's choir The SuperTones.

We're super excited to announce the two writers involved in Town Choir: Deirdre Sullivan and Dave Rudden.

Deirdre Sullivan is a writer from Galway. She has written four Young Adult novels: Prim Improper, Improper Order, Primperfect and Needlework. Her new book, Tangleweed and Brine, is a collection of fairytale retellings.

Dave Rudden is the author of award-winning trilogy Knights of the Borrowed Dark for 10 to 13 year olds. He enjoys video games, mild peril and being cruel to fictional children.

Town Choir runs on 16 & 17 September in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre and is free and unticketed. More details here.
