dissociation is any of a wide array of experiences from mild detachment from immediate surroundings to more severe detachment from physical and emotional experiences. The major characteristic of all dissociative phenomena involves a detachment from reality, rather than a loss of reality as in psychosis.

but to go further is an audio excursion into the shaping of another’s story. Using archival footage from YouTube, LiveLeak, Radio and Public Information films, you are invited to occupy the teenage psychospace - wear your headphones and delve into the codes of a society that puts the cult of the self at the centre of everything.

This is not your national broadcaster

ddr. is Dublin Fringe Festival’s first ever virtual venue. Dublin Digital Radio is a unique space, where Ireland’s left-of-centre talent finds a home for music, discussion, experimentation and radical ideas.

ddr. and Fringe have been thinking about the digital and the physical:
What does it mean to create work that lives only online, that is non-downloadable?
What does it mean to make work that comes from diverse spaces and voices?
What can we communicate across the airwaves that we cannot express in person?

We asked for artistic responses to these questions and we got a dynamic body of sonic works that are truly singular, engaged with urgent social and political conversations, and fizzing with ideas.

These three intimate radio encounters are appointment listening. Tune in to listen.dublindigitalradio.com during Fringe to hear these new pieces debut.
