Dublin Fringe Festival has always been the natural home of artists who are ambitious, adventurous, innovative and fearless, and who make work in all kinds of places and spaces around Dublin city. This year, a continued emphasis will be placed on new work that reclaims more of our city’s empty spaces and experiments with performance and experiential arts on a grand and minute scale. In 2010 the festival will have a particular focus on works that engage with the theme of community, to be interpreted as liberally and imaginatively as possible by the artists we work with. Too often ‘community’ becomes a byword for disadvantage and exclusion where the myriad possibilities of community, both on and offline are ignored. Dublin Fringe Festival would like to re-imagine the idea of community in 2010. To do this, we need you, artists and thinkers, to make it happen. We want to hear your ideas whether you work in theatre, music, dance, visual art, street-art, film, multi-media or beyond.

Dublin Fringe Festival is a curated, multi-disciplinary festival and year-round organisation focusing on new and innovative approaches to the arts. DFF supports the development and presentation of new work by Irish and International artists of vision, nurturing artistic ambition and excellence across a range of art forms. An active curator, DFF provides an environment in which participating artists challenge, subvert and invigorate their disciplines and practice. DFF provides context for new work and demands audience engagement and dialogue. The scale and environment of the festival broadens arts participation, playing a vital role in the fabric of Dublin and Irish cultural life.

The deadline for applications is Fri Mar 12th at 6pm. We will host a Pre-Application workshop on Wed Feb 10th at 6.30pm in our offices on Sackville Place Dublin 1 (corner of Sackville Place and Marlborough St) to answer all your questions about the festival, how to apply, what we’re looking for and anything else we or you can think of.
